A.M.I.E.Aust., A.S.T.C., Eng. IV : Captain, A.F.C., A.I.F., England. Was gazetted lieutenant and attended Second Officers course, Laverton, 1st July, 1915, becoming assistant instructor in October but was refused gazettal to A.I.F. abroad until September, 1918. Sailing in October as captain, was sent on from Durban to England after the Armistice for training at Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, serving until demobilisation in England, returning in 1920. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at Technical College.
