D.S.O., B.A., LL.B. : Lieutenant-Colonel, Royal Munster Fusiliers, Gallipoli, Salonika, Palestine and France; also North Russian Expedition. Enlisting in London 2nd September, 1914, was gazetted captain 26th Novmeber, and posted to 6th Battn., Royal Munster Fusiliers. After being an instructor in Ireland, proceeded to Suvla Bay in August, 1915, and in October with 10th Division to Salonika for 1st Balkan Campaign, serving in Macedonia and Serbia until October, 1917. In 1918 crossed to Palestine, was attached to Royal Irish Fusiliers and served until the end of the War. Later joined the North Russian Relief Force. Promoted major, 19th April, 1917; lieutenant-colonel, 21st January, 1919. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1919, and Crown of Italy Silver Medal and Mentioned in Despatches twice. Pre-War : A.M.F., five years. Post-War: Lancashire Fusiliers, Brevet Major; Royal West African Frontier Forces, 1925-31. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
