M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 28th August, 1914, and sailing 25th November, was at No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, from January to November, 1915, when transferred to Anzac, being with 5th Australian Field Ambulance until the Evacuation. Then was invalided to hospital, on recovery joined 4th Division, and, crossing with it to France in June, 1916, was appointed R.M.O. 14th Battn. in December. Served at Flers, Bullecourt and Messines till September, 1917, when posted to 4th A.F.Amb., being wounded at Bellewaarde Ridge, Ypres, 1st October. From December was second in command No. 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station till demobilisation. Promoted major, 24th November, 1916. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Newington College.
