B.E. : Major, 3rd and 4th Battns. A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting as second-lieutenant 4th Battn. 14th September, 1914, and sailing in October, fought at Gallipoli from the Landing to the Evacuation, being transferred to 3rd Battn. in December, 1915. Crossing to France in March, 1916, served till wounded at Pozieres 27th July and invalided to Australia, arriving 3rd December, appointment terminating in June, 1917. Promoted lieutenant, 25th April, and captain in December, 1915; major, 29th June, 1916. S.U. Scouts, second-lieutenant, July 1914; lieutenant and hon. major, 1917.
