C.B.E., V.D., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli and Palestine. Joining 3rd Australian Field Ambulance in August, 1914, and sailing in September with first contingent to Egypt, was there promoted major. Served all through the Gallipoli campaign and subsequently joined 1st A.L.H. F.Amb. in Egypt as O.C.—lieutenant-colonel. In 1917 promoted colonel and A.D.M.S. Australian Mounted Division, Palestine, returning in June, 1918. Made a C.B.E. in 1918 and Mentioned in Despatches twice. University Medallist, Renwick and John Harris Scholar, and Surgery, Anatomy and Physiology Prizeman. Hon. Consultant, Hospital for Sick Children, Brisbane. Early education at Brisbane State and Grammar Schools.
