B.Ec., LL.B. : Private, 17th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 7th July, 1915, and sailing 9th August, served at Gallipoli from October to the Evacuation. Returning to Egypt, crossed to France with 2nd Division and to England in August, 1916. Rejoining battn. in 1917, served in Messines and Somme sectors, being wounded at Morlancourt 10th May, 1918, and at Mont St. Quentin 31st August and evacuated to England 1st September, returning to Australia in February, 1919. Early education at Nelson College, New Zealand.
