M.B., Ch.M., F.R.C.S., F.R.A.C.S. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, France and England; also A.N. and M.E.F., New Guinea. Enlisting 7th October, 1915, and sailing in November, served at Rabaul till February, 1916. Then Enlisting in A.I.F. and sailing in March, joined 15th Australian Field Ambulance in Egypt, crossed to France and served with it until 20th August, 1917, being R.M.O. in turn to 59th Battn., 5th Divisional Ammunition Column and 58th Battn. Then was O.C. 5th Sanitary Section till transferred to 8th A.F.Amb. 17th August, 1918. Rejoining 15th A.F.Amb. 30th December, was subsequently at No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, and in 1919 at No. 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, being demobilised in England. Saw service at Fleurbaix, Somme, Bullecourt, Passchendaele, Villers-Bretonneux, Bellicourt and elsewhere, being wounded at Bullecourt, 12th May, 1917. Promoted major, 28th February, 1918. Lecturer in Clinical Surgery. Hon. Demonstrator in Anatomy. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew''s College.
