Diploma in Economics and Commerce : Major, 55th Battery, 25th Howitzer Bde., A.F.A., and 5th D.A.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting in July, 1915, in 6th A.L.H. Regt. and sailing with n th Reinforcements, 2nd November, was appointed Adjutant, Maadi Camp, Cairo, in December. Transferring to 25th Howitzer Brigade in March, 1916, became Adjutant 5th Divisional Ammunition Column in June. Crossing with it to France, served at Fleurbaix, Somme, Bullecourt, Ypres, Messines and elsewhere as staff captain and battery officer for varying periods till October 1918, though gassed in August. Then commanded battery until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, September, 1915; captain, June, 1916; major, 23rd October, 1918.
