Enlisting 1st May, 1915, and sailing on 15th, served at Convalescent Depot, Harefield, until 29th September, when sent to No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen. Joining 7th Australian Field Ambulance, 14th October, 1916, served with it until 8th January, 1917, when transferred to No. 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, returning to Australia 19th November. Promoted major, 20th June, 1916. Hon. Consultant, Hospital for Sick Children, Brisbane. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School.
