LL.B. : Lieutenant, 1st Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 24th April, 1916, and sailing 18th May, arrived in France in December and was present at the Somme, Polygon Wood, Ypres III and Meteren where wounded 28th May and evacuated to England. Returning to battn. at Hazebrouck (final action of 1st Division) 18th September, 1918, was attached to Americans for attack on Hindenburg Line on 30th, later rejoining battn. and remaining with it until demobilisation. Promoted second-lieutenant, 22nd May, 1917, and lieutenant, 24th November. Early education at Fort Street High School.
