M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting at the outbreak of War, having been on reserve with rank of major for years, and sailing 21st August, 1915, with No. 10 Australian General Hospital, was on arrival at Plymouth, 3rd October, appointed surgeon at No. 3 London General Hospital. Transferring to Harefield as surgeon, was sent to No. 2 A.G.H., Boulogne, as Operating Surgeon, 2nd March, 1917. Took surgical team to Remy Siding, near Poperinghe, 21st July, was attached to No. 3 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station till 3rd December, performing over 700 major operations there, and returned to Australia 3rd March, 1918. Early education at Ipswich Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew''s College.
