D.S.C., B.A. : Lieutenant, 13th Bde., A.F.A. and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 5th May, 1915, and sailing 10th November with 8th Australian Field Ambulance, served in Sinai from December, 1915, to June, 1916, and as corporal in France till February, 1917, when sent to St. John''s Wood Royal Horse Artillery School, London. Commissioned 5th July, and posted to above brigade, serving till 13th April, 1919, although wounded at Harbonnieres, 9th August, 1918, and returning in February, 1920. Promoted lieutenant, 1st January, 1918. Early education at Fort St. High School. Later attended courses at Paris and Grenoble Universities in 1919.
