D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.P. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 14th January, 1915, and sailing 8th February, served with No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Mena, from 19th March, 1915, being Secretary and Registrar from 11th November. Transferring to No. 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital 14th March, 1916, joined 8th Australian Field Ambulance in France in December, being R.M.O. 59th Battn. from 21st March, 1917, until wounded at Bullecourt, 14th May. On recovery was attached to No. 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 4th April, 1918, but joined 9th A.F.Amb. 19th July and was appointed to command 10th A.F.Amb. 15th October, serving till demobilisation. Promoted temporary major, 1st January, 1916; major, 14th November, 1916; lieutenant-colonel, 20th November, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : Commanded No. 21 A.A. Hospital, 12th June, 1919, and No. 4 A.G.H., Randwick, 1st January, 1920. Early education at King's College, Goulburn. Later at St. Andrew's.
