O.B.E., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 25th April, 1916, and sailing 22nd August, was on surgical staff No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, from October to February, 1917, and at No. 2 A.G.H., Boulogne, to 12th April. Then transferring to 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, served at Grevillers near Bapaume, Brandhoek, Remy Siding and Nine Elms. From 19th March, 1918, was Surgeon Specialist (Temporary Major) 1st A.C.C.S. at Outtersteene, Hondeghem, Blendecques, St. Venants, Fretin, Tournai and Hal. On 9th January, 1919, transferred to No. 1 A.G.H., Sutton Veny, as Officer in Charge Surgical Division. After 11th March visited hospitals in London, Edinburgh and Liverpool (special orthopaedic) till 7th June. Lecturer in Clinical Surgery. Early education at The Scots College.
