K H Kirkman enlisted for World War I on 14 June 1915. In a letter from the University registrar, dated 4 December 1916, he is listed as being at Keswick Barracks or Military Hospital, 7th District, Australian Army Medical Corps.
He again enlisted in 1942 for World War II service and was discharged in 1943.
