Professor of English, not listed in the Book of Remembrance but according to his biography he was appointed as interpreter on the censorship staff in August 1914 and was in charge of the censoring of foreign mail. In May 1918 he organised the Undergraduates Association in the formation of a Sydney University Company as reinforcements for the AIF. These volunteers were in Liverpool Training Camp when the armistice was declared and never saw active service abroad.
