M.C., B.A.; M.A. (Oxon.) : Captain, 13th Battn., Middlesex Regiment, B.E.F., France. Enlisting at Oxford in August, 1914, was wounded and invalided to Australia in December, 1915. Returning to France in January, 1917, was again wounded. Awarded M.C. after German offensive in March, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. At Sydney : First Class Honours in Classics, also in English; Cooper Scholar for Classics; James Coutts Scholar for English;
