28.11.14 2/Lt. N. & M.E.F., on staff of Sir S. Pethebridge; Lieut 1.1.15; to Rabaul 25.1.15; returned 28.3.15 and re-embarked as Lieut. 29th Btn. 10.11.15 to Camel Corps in Egypt 25.1.16; T/Capt. 1.7.16; Capt. 6.11.16; commanded 11th Coy. 3rd (Anzac) Btn., Imperial Camel Bde. Awarded Order of Serbian Eagle 5th class with swords. Despatches 1.7.16 and 16.12.17.
Killed in action at early dawn on 6th November 1917 while leading his company near Beersheba-Kuwilfat , Palestine. The night before the attack he was hit on the forehead by a spent bullet while sleeping, but declined to go off duty.
