Sailed November 1916, Sgt. 29th Btn.; passed examination for commission at Tidworth, but transferred to Arty., 14th Bty., 5th F.A.B., instead of accepting commission; wounded 30.7.17; returned to firing line 20.9.17.
On 14th October 1917, at West Hoek Ridge, he was killed by a direct hit from a shell. His age was 23.
