TUNBRIDGE, GEOFFREY BALLANTYNE. 1915.
Ballarat C.E.G.S.; dux of school, stroke of crew, representative in combined sports, and captain; 2nd year Med.; football team.
Enlisted 15.3.17; was in Arty. School at Maribyrnong, but responded to a call for volunteers for infantry, and sailed 4.8.17; on reaching England was transf. back to Arty., 2nd F.A.B., and drafted to France 23.1.18. On 14th May 1918, at Hill 60, when he, with some 60 others, was ordered to take shelter in a tunnel, the tunnel was closed at each end by 8-in. shells, and all the occupants were killed by concussion.
