Brighton G.S.; 2nd year Med.; Capt. M.U.R.; an all-round athlete.
9.12.14; acted as Sgt.-Major in camp; sailed 16.7.15 as 2/Lt. 5th Btn., though still under regulation age for a commission; to Gallipoli, and there at evacuation; desert fighting in Egypt; Lieut. 12.3.16; to England, then France; awhile with 2A L.T.M.B. as T Capt. 16.6.16; Capt. 1.8.16; sent back to continue course 26.12.16, and appointment terminated 23.3.17; passed first exam. in 3rd year, and then re-appointed Capt. 5th Btn. 24.12.17; re-embarked 19.1.18; ten weeks in England as Instructional Officer in Mortar and Machine Guns, then back to unit on the Somme 22.6.18.
At St. Martin's Wood, on 23rd August 1918, while in command of "A" Coy. in right support, he was wounded by a shell, and died of his wounds the same day.
