M.B., Ch.M., F.R.C.S., F.R.A.C.S., L.R.C.P., Demonstrator in Anatomy : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 20th August, 1914, and sailing 19th October with 1st Australian Field Ambulance, was at the Anzac Landing, then on Carriers with wounded to Alexandria and Malta till 10th August and, rejoining ambulance, remained at Anzac until the Evacuation. Transferring to No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, 24th December, 1915, and to H.Q., Cairo, 20th March, 1916, was appointed Senior Surgeon No. 3 A.G.H., Abbassia, crossing with it to Brighton in September and to Abbeville in March, 1917. Was detached to No. 12 British Casualty Clearing Station with surgical team from June to August and returned to Australia via Canada in October. Promoted major, 24th February, 1915; lieutenant-colonel, July, 1916. A.M.F. : Senior Visiting Surgeon, Randwick Military Hospital. Wing Commander, Medical Services, R.A.A.F. Lecturer in Military Surgery, 1918. Hon. Demonstrator in Anatomy, 1910. Lecturer in Post-Graduate Surgery and Director of Surgical Unit at the Prince Henry Hospital. John Harris Scholar; Haswell and Pockley Prizeman. Hon. Consulting Surgeon, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Knight of Grace of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later one year in Arts.
