In 1932 Beardsmore did not comply with Premier J T Lang's request that NSW State Revenue be paid into the NSW State Treasury. Commonwealth Legislation stipulated that it be paid into the Commonwealth Bank. Beardsmore was the only Departmental Executive who refused to pay revenue into the NSW Treasury. Lang was fired for contravening Commonwealth law and Beardsmore was sent on indefinite leave.
