A Details, Zeitoun, and on 21st December transferred to 3rd Training Battn., commanding at Abbassia, Aerodrome Camp, Tel-el-Kebir, and, after 31st May, 1916, in England. Rejoining 11th Battn. on the Somme, 10th November, as second in command, served at Flers, Ypres, Bullecourt and elsewhere until 8th September, 1917, when appointed Permanent President of Courts Martial, returning in 1920. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
