Then was Adjutant 17th Labour Group from January to March, 1919, when invalided from Marquion, being discharged from Wandsworth Hospital in May and demobilised, returning to Australia 20th February, 1920. Promoted lieutenant, 1st July, 1917; temporary captain, 1st August to 31st December, 1918; acting captain, 8th February to 2nd April, 1919.
