Transferring to 45th in Egypt and crossing with it to France, fought at Fleurbaix and the Somme until 25th August, 1916. Then seconded as O.C. 12th Training Battn. in England and on its disbandment was appointed second in command, 4th Command Depot, Hurdcott, until 3rd October, 1918, when returned to Australia.
