Returning to duty in September, acted in command of 1st Divisional Engineers in 1918 during the attack on Peronne and served until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 1st February, and captain, 9th April, 1916; major, 5th April, 1917. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1919, for work at Peronne and Mentioned in Despatches twice. A.M.F. : Major, 1st January, 1920; lieutenant-colonel, 15th December, 1922.
