Appointed to command 2nd Machine Gun Battn. in February, 1918, serving at Albert, Morlancourt, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere till demobilisation. Made a C.M.G. 1st January, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches four times. Member of S.U. Scouts. Second-lieutenant-major, Scottish Rifles; Second in Command, 39th Infantry A.M.F., 1910-14.
