Bedell 1919-1946. He won a half-blue in boxing and blues for cricket, Rugby, rowing and athletics and represented his State in cricket (1912-14), Rugby (1912-13) and athletics (Dunn Shield). In 1914 he was regarded by many as the best bowler in Australia and a certainty for the Australian team. He played for his school and later the University of Sydney as a left-arm bowler, and was selected for the New South Wales State side in 1911-12 against the Marylebone Cricket Club. He learned boxing from Larry Foley and later represented the university as a heavyweight, gaining the State championship in 1914. When Massie left school he was senior prefect, with colours in cricket, football, rowing and athletics, and the Venour Nathan Shield for rifle-shooting. In his last term he was invited to row in the New South Wales eight but this his father would not allow, thinking him too young. He rowed for the university instead, before enrolling.</item924915></item4><item18><item924916>Robert John Allwright (Jack)</item924916></item18><item20><item924917>414</item924917></item20><item39><item924918><file><ulf_ID>180</ulf_ID><fullPath>scanned_images/Massie, R J A.jpg</fullPath><ulf_ExternalFileReference/><fxm_MimeType>image/jpeg</fxm_MimeType><ulf_PreferredSource>local</ulf_PreferredSource><ulf_OrigFileName>Massie, R J A.jpg</ulf_OrigFileName><ulf_FileSizeKB>536</ulf_FileSizeKB><ulf_ObfuscatedFileID>ced3ceab3cdb0f19e600d851f4d2e117b230cd50</ulf_ObfuscatedFileID><ulf_Description/><ulf_Added>2012-11-26 18:08:02</ulf_Added><ulf_MimeExt>jpg</ulf_MimeExt><ulf_Caption/><ulf_Copyright/><ulf_Copyowner/><ulf_Parameters>mediatype=image</ulf_Parameters><ulf_WhoCanView/></file><fileid>ced3ceab3cdb0f19e600d851f4d2e117b230cd50</fileid></item924918></item39><item61><item924919><id>2268</id><type>5</type><title>MASSIE ROBERT JOHN ALLWRIGHT.pdf [ file_data/pdfs_from_BOR pdf 23265 ]</title><hhash/></item924919><item924920><id>2267</id><type>5</type><title>MASSIE ROBERT JOHN ALL WRIGHT a.pdf [ file_data/pdfs_from_BOR pdf 19281 ]</title><hhash/></item924920></item61><item72><item924921>R.J.A.</item924921></item72><item74><item924922>7510</item924922></item74><item79><item924923><id>18188</id><type>24</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Military and health.Enlisted 13 Aug 1914</title><hhash/></item924923><item924924><id>39529</id><type>24</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Relationships.Married 3 Jun 1919 - @ Brompton [ London UK ]</title><hhash/></item924924><item924925><id>39531</id><type>24</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Relationships.Married 20 Sep 1947 - @ National Episcopal Catholic Church [ Washington USA ]</title><hhash/></item924925></item79><item83><item924926><id>39524</id><type>31</type><title>Massie, R.J.A. : Sydney Church of England Grammar School, 1900 - 1909</title><hhash/></item924926></item83><item86><item924927>4790</item924927></item86><item87><item924928><id>16996</id><type>28</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Croix de Guerre avec palme 28 Feb 1919</title><hhash/></item924928><item924929><id>17313</id><type>28</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : D.S.O. 3 Jun 1918</title><hhash/></item924929><item924930><id>17675</id><type>28</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Mentioned in Despatches 28 Jan 1916</title><hhash/></item924930><item924931><id>41413</id><type>28</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Mentioned in Despatches 1 Jun 1917</title><hhash/></item924931><item924932><id>41414</id><type>28</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Mentioned in Despatches 28 May 1918</title><hhash/></item924932></item87><item88><item924933><id>29072</id><type>29</type><title>Massie R.J.A. :: Lieutenant Colonel [ Gallipoli, France ]</title><hhash/></item924933></item88><item95><item924934><id>39527</id><type>33</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Death 14 Feb 1966 @ Mosman [ NSW Australia ]</title><hhash/></item924934></item95><item102><item924935><id>20904</id><type>27</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Engineering.B.E., 1914, University of Sydney</title><hhash/></item924935></item102><item103><item924936><id>39990</id><type>24</type><title>Massie R.J.A. : Life.Birth 8 Jul 1890 - @ St Leonards [ NSW Australia ]</title><hhash/></item924936></item103><item104><item924937>http://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/browse/person/302279</item924937></item104><item108><item924938>https://aif.adfa.edu.au/showPerson?pid=190441</item924938><item924939>https://aif.adfa.edu.au/showPerson?pid=190440</item924939><item924940>http://www.harrowercollection.com/massiedso.html</item924940></item108><item112><item924941>532</item924941></item112><item113><item924942>532</item924942></item113><item119><item924943>University Medal 1914, Dux Civil Engineering, 1st Class Honours.</item924943></item119><item127><item924944>532</item924944></item127><item134><item924945>D.S.O., C. de G., B.E. : Lieutenant-Colonel, 4th and 33rd Battns., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France.
