Coy. in France from June, 1916, till the Armistice except for eight months in hospital through injury and was slightly wounded at Fleurbaix, 25th July. Commissioned "In the Field ", 9th August. Awarded M.C.* for work at Harbonnieres and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Newcastle Collegiate School.
