Promoted lieutenant 30th August, for services at Messines. Died of Wounds, Zonnebeke, 26th September, 1917, and was buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinghe. Early education at Fort St. High and Sydney Grammar Schools. He was the best officer in my company. He was liked by his boys who thought him a good officer and a gentleman.
