Short description
M S Stanley enlisted on 11 March, 1916 in Melbourne for World War I service. He applied for a commission as Lieutenant. This was granted and he embarked from Sydney, Australia on 10 February 1917 on RMS Osterley. In July of the same year he proceeded to France where he joined the 3rd Division Engineers.
He had attended Engineer Officers School of Instruction in England as part of his training.
