Short description
A R Paterson was 21 years of age at enlistment. He had served already in the Citizen Forces for over 2 years prior to enlistment for overseas service.
According to the RSL Virtual War Memorial website, A R Paterson enlisted with the Army Medical Corps (A.I.F.) as a Private. His pharmaceutical knowledge would have been a great asset in this deployment. (He had served 4 years as an apprentice to a practising chemist at this stage and was studying Pharmacology.)
He embarked from Adelaide on 11 April, 1916 aboard HMAT Aeneas. Subsequently he served in Egypt, England and France.
