Short description
On 20 May 1915 R G Wilton received a commission as Second Lieutenant in 7th Reinforcements of the !0th Battalion. He had some training prior to enlistment in the Cadets where he was a Lieutenant. He embarked on 24 June 1915 for Gallipoli. He qualified in Egypt to become a member of the Machine Gun Corps and was transferred to the 50th Battalion. He went to France in 1916.
At time of enlistment he was married. His wife's name was Annie.
