D P Gordon embarked from Adelaide on 22 October 1914 on HMAT Hymettus with 1st Divisional Train, 4th Company, Army Service Corps. He was a Driver with the rank of Private. His Service Number was 845.
He participated in the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April, 1915 and was also involved in the Suvla Bay combat.
He was subsequently invalided to Egypt and then to sent back to Australia, returning in October 1915. He was declared medically unfit for further active war service by the Military Medical Board and received his discharge. He returned to his former employ with Elder, Smith & Co. and took up a position in their Sydney Office.
D P Gordon enlisted for World War II service on 9 April 1943 at Gawler, South Australia. He was then 50 years old and was living at Williamstown, occupation Sheep Farmer. His wife was Mary Gordon of the same address.
