Short description
R L V Gambrell enlisted at Keswick, South Australia. His mother, Amelia Gambrell, was given as his next-of-kin. His address was Weller Street, Goodwood. At the time of enlistment he was employed in Administration at the University of Adelaide.
He enlisted with the A.I.F. as a Corporal with 48th Infantry Battalion on 2 August 1915. His Service Number was 3265. He embarked on HMAT Benalla from Adelaide on 27 October 1915. He had served with the Sea Cadets nad the 74th Infantry Battalion in the Citizens Forces prior to enlisting for World War I Service.
He enlisted again for World War II service on 1 April 1942. His service number then was 70258. He was discharged on 27 April 1945.
