Short description
M L Scott was Medical Officer at the West Adelaide Military Training Area in 1911. After enlisting in 1916, he embarked from Adelaide and was appointed to the permanent surgical staff of 1 Army General Hospital at Rouen in 1917, detached to a Casualty Clearing Station at Passchendaele, and later to 5th British General Hospital. With the rank of Temporary Major, he was posted to 3 Field Ambulance in 1918 and then to 1 AGH Rouen in Command of the Surgical Division. His war experience in surgery greatly enhanced his knowledge and expertise in this field, especially the drainage & treatment of infected joints, particularly the knee joint.
