In March 1918 he was recommended for an OBE: 'As a bacteriologist at a General Hospital (3rd AGH) this Officer has been conspicuous for steady consistent hard work and devotion to duty. He has carried out special investigation into the incidence of Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis in the AIF, sometimes at considerable personal risk. During thirty months' service in Egypt, England and France, this Officer's work has been of a high standard.' The honour was not conferred. Commemorated Roseville War Memorial. [Rallying the troops]
