R J Verco topped his first year MBBS at University of Adelaide, winning the Davies Thomas Scholarship. he later topped the final year MBBS for which he was awarded the Everard Scholarship.
During his student days at University of Adelaide, R J Verco played Intervarsity Lacrosse and was awarded a Blue.

After serving in World War I and returning to South Australia, R J Verco continued with his General Practice at Payneham Road, St. Peters, Adelaide until his death in 1950 at the age of 64.
