V.D., M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting and sailing 2nd November, 1915, served with details at Zeitoun and was R.M.O. Australian Camel Corps from 14th February, 1916, and 2nd A.L.H. Regt. from 23rd March. Was promoted major 28th June, became S.M.O. Moascar Details Camp in October, second in command 4th A.L.H. Field Ambulance 3rd July, 1917, and O.C. Australian Camel F.Amb. (temporary lieutenant-colonel) in August. Appointed to No. 14 Australian General Hospital 13th January, 1918, and put on non-military employment in England, February, 1919, returning in November. Awarded V.D. in May, 1935. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
