Ec.Dip I., His surname and initials are listed in the back of the Book of Remembrance as a member of the University who joined the Company, volunteered for active service, and having been accepted for the A.I.F., was in camp at Liverpool preparatory to leaving for the Front, October 1918.

One of three sons (all enlisted) of William Ames Engineer Commander RAN Forces.Previous military experience included serving two years with the Australian Rifles and one year with the National Guard.Listed on Lindfield Soldiers Memorial Gates, Tryon Rd.
