Enlisting 17th October, 1916, and sailing 25th November, joined battn. in France 7th May, 1917, and served at Bullecourt, Messines Ridge, Ploegsteert, Warneton, Armentieres and Messines, where wounded 23rd August, 1917, and evacuated to No. 5 Southern General Hospital, England, 24th October, later to Australia, arriving 1st June, 1918. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
