B.E., A.M.I.E. Aust. : Lieutenant, A.F.C., and A.A.S.C. (Mechanical Transport), A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting 18th September, 1914, and sailing 22nd December with 8th Coy. A.A.S.C. (1st Div. Ammunition Sub-Park) for England, crossed to France in July, 1915, served with the 17th British Division in the Ypres-Bailleul areas, and transferred to 4th Div. Sub-Park on 9th August, and to Senior Mechanical Transport Officers' Staff 13th January, 1917. Proceeding to England for aeronautical training in December, was commissioned as pilot in June, 1918, and returned to Australia on '1914 Leave' in December. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School and King's College (Goulburn). Later at St. Paul's.
