M.C., B.A., Law : Lieutenant, R.F.A., B.E.F., France and Germany; also A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli. Enlisting 8th February, 1915, and sailing 10th April with 4th Reinforcements 1st Australian Field Ambulance, served as stretcherbearer at Anzac from 11th July till invalided to England 25th September. Was discharged on 13th December on receiving commission to R.F.A. and, crossing to France in May, 1916, served with 40th Battery until September, 1918. Was Adjutant 25th Brigade till December and then with 115th Battery in Army of Occupation till April, 1919, being demobilised in England. Promoted lieutenant, 1st July, 1917. Awarded M.C. in July, 1918. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School and The Armidale School (Captain). Later at St. Paul's College.
