J.A. Love was recommended for the Military Cross  following the Ypres campaign in France but is was not awarded.
After returning from World War I he had a medical practice at Booleroo Centre, S.A. until 1927. He also did post-graduate study in U.S.A. and later moved to Western Australia to live.

His brother, J. R.B. Love, served in the Camel Corps in WWI and was awarded the DCM and MC. J.R.B. Love later became a Moderator in the S.A. Branch of the Presbyterian Church.
