E B Jones was Acting Lecturer on Medical Diseases of Children at the University of Adelaide. He also served as a Member of the Adelaide University Council.
As a student he received a Blue for Cricket in 1911. He also played for North Adelaide Football Club.

E B Jones excelled academically and at most sports. He won the Everard Scholarship in 1910 and was the South Australian Rhodes Scholar for 1912. Later, at Magdalen College, Oxford University, he was awarded First Class Honours in Physiology.

E B Jones was Secretary of the SA Branch of the British Medical Association and the SA Representative on the Federal Council of the BMA in 1937. He was also the President of the Medical Benevolent Association in 1949. He was Honorary Consulting Physician at Adelaide Children's Hospital and the Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital.
