He received his MD degree for his study of gastro-enteritis in children. F H Beare retained his interest in military affairs after the war.: he was a lieutenant colonel in the Militia , DDMS at Keswick and then joined the 2nd AIF in 1939 aged 44 years. He became ADMS of the 6th Division and CO of the 2/2nd AGH.
His medical interests included the Mareeba Babies' Hospital and the Royal British Nursing Association.
