D.S.O., V.D., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 10th August, 1915, and sailing 9th November with 8th Australian Field Ambulance, crossed from Egypt to France in June and was at Fleurbaix, the Somme and elsewhere until 26th September, 1917, when transferred to No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen. Served as O.C. 13th A.F.Amb. from 12th June, 1918, until the breaking up of the ambulance and demobilisation. Promoted major, 14th November, 19 16; lieutenant-colonel, 12th June, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 3rd June, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : O.C. 11th A.F.Amb. 1921-27. Early education at Parramatta South Public School. Later one year in Arts.
