M.M., Caretaker, Law School: Private, 4th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting in April, 1915, served at Anzac, where injured, but was present at the Evacuation. Later, crossing to France, remained with regt. on the Somme and at Pozieres, where an emergency runner and stretcher-bearer, refusing transfer to work behind the lines. Returned to Australia, invalided, in 1917. Awarded M.M. at Pozieres.
