JONES, LOFTUS EDWARD PERCEVAL. 1893.
S.C. and Cumloden; Law course; equal for Supreme Court Prize 1899; admitted to bar in Victoria June 1899, and in Shanghai November 1899; joined firm of Dowdell, Hanson, and McNeill 1901, and became a partner 1907; severa l times acted as Crown Advocate, and after the Revolution conducted important prosecutions for the Republican Government; a rowing man and a keen rider, many years member of Shanghai Light Horse; prominent in public life of Shanghai.
Recommended for commission 1O.12.14; left for England 25.12.14; gazetted Capt. 7th Btn. Yorkshire Regt. 23.2.15; sailed for France 13.7.15.
Killed in action at Voormezeele, near Ypres, on 3rd August 1915, and buried in the grounds of Chateau de Rosenthal.
